HISTORY OF BRIAN’S

Career

This picture shows Brian at work polishing a  Ring.

On leaving school he spent three years at the Lawrian Academy, in Carlisle where he was taught by people appointed to the Queen and acquired all the skills and  techniques with which he produces his fine jewellery pieces today.  He then spent a further 13 years with A & R Murray but left in 1998 to open up his own business in Thornton where he has now been for 12 years.

Brian’s interest in designing and making jewellery began in secondary school when he was introduced to this craft by one of his teachers.  While at school he helped out a local goldsmith and would have trained with him had the goldsmith  been able to afford the cost of upgrading his premises to adhere to health and safety  rules.

He came second at the Goldsmith’s Convention with this at the age of 17 having only been making things for one year.

This represents a walking stick and the top is made up of eleven handmade pieces which all fit together like a glove.

This is an ornamental Drinking Cup.
